With elections less than a week away, popular left-wing figure Yurt Cheung Ho has announced the establishment of his new party, the Yurtyzstani Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea.
Yurt Cheung Ho told New Light of Yurtyzstan by email that the purpose of the party was "to fight for Juche in Yurtyzstan, and to try to uphold Yurtyzstan's past system." He stated that he fears the erosion of Yurtyzstan's North Korean political influences with only the receding Yurtyzstani Workers' Party to defend them, and that it was this fear that convinced him to start a new political party rather than remaining independent.
Yurt Cheung Ho rose to national prominence after leading a group of Yurtyzstani revolutionaries to end the Moosian occupation of Old Yurtpyitaw last July. He joined the Provisional Government in October, joining with Oon Em Pyo Iid to form a communist coalition within the government, and briefly served as Vice-Chairman of the Central Committee of the Yurtyzstani Workers' Party. His charisma and popularity will likely serve as a major boost to Yurtyzstani communists, who are expected to sustain major losses in the upcoming election.
