The New Light of Yurtyzstan predicts that, while the northern regions will remain a stronghold for Yurtyzstani communist candidates, Prosperity for Yurtyzstan will emerge as the big winner in the 1 May 2013 legislative election.
Okryu Applications, a Lhesap-based firm regarded as the nation's primary authority in political polling and analysis, has conducted numerous informal surveys as well as one online poll throughout the run-up to the election. The results have been conclusive: Yurtyzstanis overwhelmingly support private enterprise and approve of the cultural modernisation efforts of Prosperity for Yurtyzstan. Most voters surveyed in late March reported that they intend to rank the PYC first or second on the ballot.
However, support is still strong for the extensive social democracy programme built by the Yurtyzstani Workers' Party over nearly three years as the majority party. The response to calls for a foreign assets pool to back currency and for a retreat from proletarian cultural values has been tepid. This will likely manifest itself as a significant obstacle to the PYC in the Assembly. Leftist parties could have used this sticking point to erode support for the PYC, but the PYC was the first to begin campaigning and also ran a stronger campaign, with a large number of trusted longtime politicians (including Yurt Kyong-yon) speaking throughout the country.
Our specific prediction is that Prosperity for Yurtyzstan will gain seven seats in the Assembly, with the remaining two to be contested by Oon Em Pyo Iid of the YWP, Yurt Cheung-ho, and charismatic moderate independent Yurt Myaung-hye.
