Today in Yurtyzstan, voting began on a referendum to determine the political structure of Yurtyzstan and on an election for a five-seat Constitutional Committee.
The referendum ballot lists four options for government type, selected by the Provisional Government based on several informal surveys. The Revolutionary Presidium government, proposed by Po Er Kwa Deul, would entail a council of influential Yurtyzstanis -- intellectuals, entrepreneurs, revolutionary figures, etc. -- chosen by write-in elections or by the other members of the Council. The Supreme People's Assembly government,
a restoration of the unicameral parliament in place from December 2011 until the July 2012 government collapse, was added to the ballot after the surveys were conducted. Also on the ballot are options for Supreme Potentacy, the autocratic government in place from Yurtyzstan's foundation until December 2011, and a military junta. The latter was added to appease Confederation of Ice Lakes citizens, who are still largely against integrating into Yurtyzstan despite having transitioned from military peacekeeping coalition rule to Yurtyzstani civilian rule at the beginning of December. It is tentatively believed that the parliamentary government will be selected by a plurality of voters, though the Revolutionary Presidium also has strong support throughout the country.
Nine Yurtyzstanis have registered as candidates for the Constitutional Committee. In addition to the six members of the Provisional Government, musician Maung Maung Yurt and former Workers' Party legislators Yurt Hye-jik and Yurt Ma-shin are both on the ballot. Highly popular Provisional Government members Yurt Kyong-yon and Yurt Myaung-hye are widely expected to gain seats on the Committee, as is Yurt Ma-shin for his heavy support from residents of his native Confederation of Ice Lakes.
Both votes use a ranked voting system.
